II. INTERNATIONAL PHOTOGRAPH CONTEST
Theme : "The Earth: Land and Water".
- Chamber of Geology Engineering organizes an international contest with the theme of "The Earth: 1)Land and 2)Water" for the "Year of Planet Earth" in 2008. The Nature is the main section of this contest
- The earth is an indispensable source for living of all living beings. Any damage of it would quickly affect the living beings living on it.
- The future of the earth is at the same time the future of living beings living on it.
- The earth that is 4,6 billion years old has at least the same amount lifetime. We are only its guests.
- Humans that are guests of the earth should respect to the earth so that its kind will not disappear. Because the earth will continue its lifetime for a few billion years more after the extinct of humans.
- The earth records all the events happening on it. Thanks to these records we can learn many things about its past and have approaches about its future.
- These records can sometimes be in a rock, sometimes in a fossil rich rocks or in a magnificent natural monument. We who are living as guests on it should endeavor to protect these records.
- We are consuming fast the sources generously presented by the earth.
- We should endeavor the effort we have spent for protecting the cultural heritage for protecting the natural heritage.
- Many magnificent natural monuments on the earth have been composed by water and wind like artist fastidiousness within the geological time.
- Water is our most important life source presented to us by the earth.
- Like other natural sources, water does not have endless reserve.
- These sources are decreasing fast because of unconscious and wrong politics.
- We will see with our eyes that this source will be consumed fast in a shorter time than a human lifetime.
- Positively and negatively everything about land and water that comes to our minds is considered within the topic of this contest.
- FIAP_NATURE DEFINITION : ........
- The contest will be in two categories : 1)Land and 2)Water. Both categories are open to any kind of the creative ideas of the artists.
- The contest is supported by FIAP (International Federation of Photographic Art) and TFSF (the Federation of Turkish Photographic Art).
- The contest will be implemented by FIAP and TFSF regulations and rules.
- A maximum of four color pieces of art can be sent for each category of the contest.
- The photographs sent should be packaged carefully in order not to cause any damages.
- The application form should be filled out completely in order to be accepted to the contest.
- The results of the contest will be announced at www. jmo.org.tr and www.tfsf.org.tr web pages on 30.03.2009. Awarded participants will also be informed via emails.
- Only color prints will be accepted. The dimensions of the photographs should be 30x40 cm ( + 5 cm ). Smaller or bigger photographs will not be accepted. All the photographs sent should also be recorded to CD with a high resolution.
- The photographs recorded to CD should be in JPEG format, its short edge should be minimum 3500 pixels.
- The contest is open to all amateur/professional photographs except for Board of Chamber of Geology Engineers and Selective Committee members.
- Application form and the photograph information in CD should be the same and they should be marked.
- "It includes photographs for exhibition, it does not have trade value" expression should be written on the packages.
- Each participant will have a nickname. The nickname and photograph numbers should be written on the right bottom corner at back of photographs. The category will be written before the nickname. (For example LAND051369-1. LAND051369- 2, LAND051369-3 LAND051369-4, WATER051369-1. WATER051369- 2, WATER051369-3 WATER051369-4)
- The awarded pieces of art will be kept at JMO achieve and if it is seen necessary JMO can use these photographs for display purposes only at the activities in line with its aims by writing the name of the photographer. The photographer is free to use his/her awarded photograph at different areas.
- Returns will be returned as of 1 June 2009 as in the package and format it is sent to.
- Awarded photographs will take place at TFSF 2009 yearbook.
- For the gathering of selective committee 2/3 majority will be considered sufficient.
- All the photographers attending to the contest by signing the application form accepts these conditions.
- One contest catalogue will be sent to every photographer participating to the contest (except for those that do not send participation fee).
- Awards will be given during the opening ceremony. The catalogues will be sent as of 1 June 2009.
PARTICIPATION FEE: The participation fee to the contest for all categories is 15 Euro; it is 20 YTL for domestic participations. The works for which participation fee is not given will not be returned and catalog will not be sent.
The participation fee should be sent together with the photographs. Postal cheque or bank money order will not be accepted.
UNELIGIBLE APPLICATIONS
- Applications via internet,
- Disorderly packaged and damaged applications,
- Applications without participation fee, participation form or incompletely filled out forms,
- The photographs without participation fee will not be taken into evaluation and returned.
